Police have launched an investigation after a body was discovered at Impetus Washington Recycling Centre in the Pattinson area of Washington, Wearside earlier this week.
The body was discovered at the site on Tueday (24 June) and police were called to the scene.
A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said: “Police were called to a commercial premises on Wilden Road, Pattinson, in Washington at just after 1pm on Tuesday.”
Officers commenced an investigation into the incident and inquiries were carried out to establish the circumstances of the death.
The body is believed to be that of 26 year old John Sumner, but police have yet formally identify the deceased.
The results of a post mortem examination have proved inconclusive into just how the man died, but “third party” involvement in the death has been have ruled out.
Inquiries will continue and further tests will be carried out.
