Taylor Announces Executive Chairman
Taylor has announced that Richard Sanders, ex-strategy director for the John Lewis Partnership and co-founder of Sullivan Street Partners, the investment firm that oversaw the acquisition of Taylor, is to executive chairman from 1 May.
Sanders, who has been an active board member since the acquisition in 2010, has worked in the manufacturing sector for the past 15 years and been behind a number of successful SME growth strategies.
The move will see Sanders work closely with Julian Gaylor, Taylor’s Sales and Marketing Director, as the company continues to extend its reach throughout the UK, expand its international presence and forge Sellers Containers product portfolio with Taylor’s under new brand Taylor Containers.
On the appointment Richard comments: “This is an exciting opportunity to get closer to the company and work alongside its first-class management and executive team as we deliver a series of new products and services over the coming months. We will be appointing a new CEO however our priority has been to secure the right person for the role rather than working to a timeframe. We have ambitious plans for growth so it’s important that the new CEO will be able to share this vision as we embark on the next phase of Taylor’s development.”
Taylor is shortly expected to complete a period of recapitalisation, which will enable the 50-year-old manufacturer to continue investing in new services and product development.
Vehicle Weighing Solutions and Epic Media Launch Southern Municipal Exhibition
CIWM Business Club Members, Vehicle Weighing Solutions and Epic Media, have joined together to launch a new exhibition and conference initiative for the southern region, which aims to bring together and promote companies that are active in the municipal vehicle & waste management sector.
Julian Glasspole, Managing Director, VWS said: “This is an exciting and dynamic initiative that we first did in the North and now will provide companies with an affordable way of meeting potential customers and networking with associated companies in the south.
“The first Northern Municipal Expo took place at Manchester United Football Ground, Old Trafford in October last year. We are now replicating that success for the Southern Municipal Expo. With both internal and external areas available, this is one event that the British summer can’t spoil, much!”

From One Richard To Another Richard At Isuzu Truck
This year’s CV Show at the NEC in April marked the imminent retirement as well as the recent arrival of two well-known industry heavyweights at Isuzu Truck UK.
Current sales director Richard Draycott has decided to retire from ITUK at the end of July 2014 with the timing marking the 50th anniversary of the day he first began in the truck industry with Bedford Trucks. Concurrently, Richard’s long-term successor, Richard Waterworth has joined Isuzu Truck UK in the position of Head of Sales, directly reporting into Richard Draycott, until his retirement.
Commenting on the impending retirement of Richard Draycott, Pete Murphy, managing director at ITUK said: “For the past 12 years Richard has utilised all of his considerable experience and expertise gained within the industry to great effect in his position as Sales Director here at Isuzu Truck. In that time, he has built up an incredibly successful and professional sales department that has positively influenced both customers and dealers alike. In his retirement he can certainly reflect that his area of the business is absolutely at the top of its game.”
Stepping into Richard’s shoes later this year will be Richard Waterworth.
“With Richard Waterworth’s proven knowledge of the Isuzu product as well as his considerable dealer sales expertise, he joins ITUK at a really exciting time. With Isuzu launching its Euro VI truck range at the CV Show and continuing to expand its dealer sales network, this will enable Richard to hit the ground running in his new role, as the company continues on its planned expansion programme,” said Pete Murphy.
FARID Sells Its Subsidiary, MORO, To Kaiser Ag
Since acquiring Moro in 2005 from the German group Schmidt, FARID European Group has put much energy and investment into the Moro brand, such as developing new products and entering new markets.
The entire range of equipment was completely renewed with the launch of the new Elegance and Tornado lines, valued by the market for their innovative design and high technical specification. To these developments must be added improvements to the pumps and components, which received global recognition, as a result of renewing both industrial and commercial processes.
The growing commitment to its core business, the production of refuse collection vehicles, and the challenges facing one of Europe’s major players in this sector have led FARID to refocus its strategic vision. This is demonstrated by its recent purchase of Heil Europe Limited, which has allowed FARID to strengthen its market position in Europe, particularly in Great Britain and Germany.
Despite the excellent results obtained, FARID is entering a period of sustained evaluation of partnership and acquisition opportunities. Hence, reluctantly it has decided to sell its interest in Moro to Kaiser Ag to concentrate on its core activities. FARID will continue to produce and market container washers and to distribute Johnston sweepers.
The Kaiser Ag Group produces vacuum tankers with water recycling and it employs more than 400 people. Kaiser Ag exports to five continents and operates in more than 100 countries. With the acquisition of Moro, Kaiser expands its range of products and is ready to face the challenges ahead as a market leader.
The agreement signed, which completes by next June, and will conclude an important experience in FARID’s own history. Moro can be considered as a company with a large product range and at the forefront, with a strong organisational structure and fully effective distribution network. FARID European Group will continue with renewed enthusiasm and strength to deal with its core business, with a mission to consolidate its leading position both in Europe and globally.
Until the transaction is completed, all Moro activities will continue to be managed by Farid Industrie SpA.
