CIWM Involved In Two New Seminar Sessions At RWM/CIWM

As well as showcasing two new online compliance tools and running live demonstrations of the e-learning package, Waste Expert, CIWM will also be involved in two in-depth seminar sessions.

BrazillianOn Wednesday at 4.30 in the UKTI seminar theatre, CIWM deputy chief executive, Chris Murphy, will lead a session on “Exploring opportunities in the Brazilian solid waste market”.  The RWM Brasil event takes place on 1-2 October in Sao Paolo and ahead of that event the session will highlight the challenges Brazil faces in its resource efficiency and waste management market, with legislation being introduced requiring all 5,500 local governments in Brazil to close open dumps and pre-treat waste that goes into landfill by the end of 2014.

The session, also featuring Valeria Martinez, of the UKTI and Carlos Silva Filho of ABRELPE, will cover the main opportunities for British waste management companies in Brazil, priority areas of the Brazilian waste and resource sectors
and issues in the current waste management system in the country.

Rumour has it that there may be Brazilian dancers in attendance, as if the content alone wasn’t enough to get you along!

Opportunities In The UK

The second session takes place on Tuesday at 12.30, again in the UKTI seminar theatre, and is based on the “Opportunities in the UK waste management market” report, which CIWM contributed to significantly.

Delivered by Adam Read, this session will provide a detailed overview of the UK waste management sector; insights into the future European waste policy; updates on the UK waste policies; and market opportunities in infrastructure, transport, re-use, the circular economy and viewpoints from the public and private sector.
