Man Dies Following Incident At Wood Recycling Facility

02-07-14(1)picA man has died following an incident at a Plevin wood recycling plant near Sheffield on Monday (30 June).

South Yorkshire Police and the Health and Safety Executive have launched an investigation after an incident at R Plevin and Sons’ Hazlehead wood recycling facility near Sheffield resulted in the death of a worker.

Jamie Plevin, Plevin – “We are very sorry to report the death of an employee who was working at our Hazlehead site…We extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends, and are offering all available support at this difficult time”

The incident happened on Monday (30 July) but the man has not yet been named and no details released as to the incident itself.

Emergency services were called to the scene and he was taken by air ambulance to Northern General Hospital in Sheffield where he later died from his injuries.

Jamie Plevin, managing director of Plevin, released a statement, saying: “We are very sorry to report the death of an employee who was working at our Hazlehead site.

“We extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends, and are offering all available support at this difficult time.

“The health and safety of our employees is of the utmost importance, and we are co-operating fully with the relevant authorities to investigate the circumstances around this incident.”

Last month saw a fire at the wood recycling plant near Penistone. Firefighters spent more than a week tackling it.
