09-04-13(1)picTerraCycle and McVitie’s are working together to give a second life to biscuit wrappers by urging people to recycle them.

McVitie’s and TerraCycle have launched the Biscuit Wrapper Roundup Collection Contest.

People across the UK being encouraged to collect and send in waste biscuit wrappers that would otherwise end up in landfill but which can then be recycled into new products like watering cans, garden benches and waste bins.

The points can be redeemed for a variety of charitable gifts or for a payment of £0.01 per point to the non-profit organisation or school of your choice

Locations collecting on the McVitie’s Biscuit Wrapper Brigade have the chance to win up to £250 for the school, charity or non-profit organisation of their choice – with a total of 100,000 TerraCycle points up for grabs (£1,000 worth).

The points can be redeemed for a variety of charitable gifts or for a payment of £0.01 per point to the non-profit organisation or school of your choice.

McVitie’s and TerraCycle first joined forces in June 2012 to launch the McVitie’s Biscuit Wrapper Brigade to address the problem of billions of biscuit wrappers needlessly being sent to UK landfill.

This scheme encourages consumers across the UK to send in any brand of used biscuit wrappers to be recycled into everyday products such as watering cans, garden benches and waste bins.

Over 16,000 biscuit wrappers have been saved from landfill so far.

The contest runs from 8 April 2013 to 7 October 2013.
