New “App” Will Help Retailers To Become More Resource Efficient

shopping bags carrier plasticRetailers will be able to access help and advice on becoming more sustainable at the touch of the button, as of today, as a new smart phone “app” is launched.

The Green Retail App, developed by Resource Efficient Scotland, a programme delivered by Zero Waste Scotland, will be demonstrated at today’s Retail Energy Efficiency Task Force’s (which consists of major retailers from across the UK working to share best practice on energy efficiency with smaller retailers) “Reducing Waste Energy – An Energy Management Workshop for Retail” event.

The app, free to download from Google Play and Apple’s iTunes store, provides a dedicated one-stop-shop for all business’ resource efficiency needs – water, energy, or waste – and is designed for smaller retailers. It provides videos, practical tools and information together with links to wider support from Resource Efficient Scotland.

Resource Efficient Scotland’s Stephen Boyle, Programme Area Manager for the business sector, will introduce the technology, and he explained: “The retail sector has the potential to make huge efficiency savings and we are keen to help them realise savings where they can and to make their businesses more efficient. The Green Retail app is a handy, easy-to-use and comprehensive tool for busy retailers to access the latest advice and support from the Resource Efficient Scotland programme and Zero Waste Scotland, making smarter use of resources and saving money in the process.”
