An investigation is underway following a fire at New Earth Solution’s Sharpness recycling facility.
Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service (GFRS) and Avon Fire and Rescue were called to Sharpness Docks in Sharpness, Berkeley on Friday (2 December).
More than 50 firefighters were called to the scene, using 11 fire engines and an aerial platform due to the structural integrity of the roof.
South Western Ambulance Service Foundation Trust supported crews and Gloucestershire police sealed off the area. Environment Agency and Severn Trent Water also on the scene.
The fire service had the fire extinguished by 5pm with two engines remaining at the site with a watching brief.
The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
The Sharpness in-vessel composting facility is one of five recycling sites operated by New Earth Solutions.
