Casepak has been awarded a three year contract to process 3,800 tonnes per annum of Rutland County Council’s mixed dry recyclables.
Rutland County Council put the contract to process the county’s dry mixed recyclables out for tender earlier this year, and Casepak won following a competitive selection process.
The contract, which started at the beginning of May 2017, will continue for a period of three years. Casepak started its partnership with Rutland County Council in 2011, and the latest deal will see it continue through to 2020.

As part of the contract, Casepak will process a variety of waste materials including glass bottles and jars, paper, cardboard, metal packaging, aluminium foil, plastic packaging (excluding black plastics), plastic bottles and cartons, and household batteries.
Recyclable materials will be collected through a commingled kerbside collection from nearly 17,000 homes in Rutland. Rutland currently boasts a 59% recycling rate.

The collected recyclables will be taken to Casepak’s £21m MRF located on the Braunstone Frith Industrial Estate, Leicester, where it will be sorted and processed.
Casepak’s MRF has the capacity to process up to 150,000 tonnes of material each year, recovering 95% of the material processed.
