The event comprises the CIWM Professional Awards and the UK Sustainability and Resource Industry Awards, a total of 20 categories that will acknowledge and reward the very best in the industry in areas from innovation and waste minimisation, to energy recovery and site operation.
CIWM, CEO, Steve Lee – “Organised by CIWM on behalf of the industry, these are THE awards for the UK sustainability and resources sector. This is where we ALL come together to recognise and reward those that lead the way into a more sustainable future”
Helen has become one of the UK’s most successful and popular TV presenters, having risen to prominence at a young age as a host of Blue Peter, and more recently on Countryfile and fronting much of BT Sport’s live output. She is someone who has taken on unbelievable challenges – kayaking the Amazon, running a 78-mile ultra marathon and cycling to the South Pole – and succeeded, and it is these qualities that we believe make her an ideal choice as host for the CIWM Awards 2014.
Helen herself has a passion for the environment and ‘green living’. She recognises the exceptional work being done to sustain the world’s resources and the vital role that we in the waste and resources industry play in that.
Working with Helen demonstrates CIWM’s – and the CIWM Awards’ – commitment to recognising not only outstanding achievement, but also to looking forward and laying the foundations for future generations.
By selecting a host who has already made her mark by contributing to a better world through her extreme charity challenges, CIWM is demonstrating its own commitment to putting the world’s resources to better use and making a difference.
If you want the opportunity to meet Helen, then the best way is to make sure you submit an excellent entry into the awards; or you can sponsor one of the few remaining categories.
About The Awards
CIWM chief executive, Steve Lee, said of the Awards: “For many reasons effective sustainability programmes and better resource management is more vital than ever before. Demand for improvement – in terms of re-use, waste reduction, recycling and local environmental quality – is at an all-time high.
“People want to enjoy a clean environment, to live on a ‘green’ planet and to help address the global issue of climate change. Legislation reflects this and organisations across the world, large and small, are striving to contribute.
“This ambition is driving significant growth in the waste and resources industry. Aside from jobs and the commercial benefits, everyone who works in the sector knows the contribution they make has a wider impact.
“There are huge advances in operations, technology and learning every year. The industry, and the sectors that surround it, are full of amazing achievements and innovations, which the CIWM Awards exist to recognise.
“Organised by CIWM on behalf of the industry, these are THE awards for the UK sustainability and resources sector. This is where we ALL come together to recognise and reward those that lead the way into a more sustainable future.
“CIWM is working towards a world where resources are kept working, where waste is put back to work and residues are carefully disposed of. The CIWM Awards exist to support this vision, acknowledging the organisations and people who make it happen… YOU. Get involved.”
