About

Fornax Environmental Solutions is delivering the next generation of hazardous and clinical waste treatment in the UK. Our first operational facility in County Durham, will be the UK’s first dedicated High Temperature R1-rated incinerator, setting a new benchmark for performance, compliance and sustainability, with further facilities planned nationwide.

Purpose-built to strengthen UK capacity, the site provides 10,500 tonnes per annum of secure treatment capability through high-temperature incineration at 1100°C (minimum two-second residence time). Advanced emissions monitoring, process control systems and continuous compliance oversight ensure safe, fully regulated treatment.

As an R1 energy recovery facility, it generates up to 6MW of recoverable heat – enough to heat approximately 700 homes – turning waste into a resource. With 75,000 sq ft of warehousing and acceptance of a broad range of EWC codes, including laboratory, clinical, pharmaceutical, packed chemical, controlled drugs and IBC liquid wastes, Fornax delivers comprehensive, compliant treatment at scale.
