Business recycling group CIRQLR has acquired Sommers Waste Solutions Ltd to expand its waste and recycling operations across the UK.
The addition of Sommers Waste Solutions Ltd (SWS) to the CIRQLR network marks a major step in the company’s expansion by extending its recycling operations to cover the entire UK.
Forming just over two and a half years, CIRQLR already operates across the East, South, and Midlands areas of England.
CIRQLR says the acquisition is in response to increasing demand from business customers for recycling services due to Simpler Recycling legislation.
Based in Luton, SWS will continue to offer its full range of waste and recycling solutions trusted for commercial and industrial customers in education, the care and housing management sectors.
CIRQLR says it expects to more than double the recycling materials it handles each year from the current 600,000 tonnes to over one million tonnes of materials. CIRQLR today has 19 recycling facilities and plans to double its current total of over 600 staff.
Commenting on the acquisition, David Palmer-Jones OBE, CEO and founder of CIRQLR, said: “The arrival of SWS comes at an exciting time for CIRQLR, offering a step change in our national coverage and the goal to provide a more circular approach to the way businesses manage their materials.
“Businesses across industry sectors every week ask us to address their desire to improve their sustainability, aided by the Government’s ambitious regulatory support for a more circular economy.”
Mark Sommers, managing director of SWS, said joining CIRQLR ‘comes at the right time’ for SWS and its customers who are looking for a greater variety of recycling services to address a rapidly changing regulatory landscape.
