One Tree Will Be Planted For Every Exhibitor At RWM 2019

RWM will be working in collaboration with its new exhibition partner Forest Carbon, to create what will be called the RWM Forest. The aim of the forest is to help offset the carbon emitted over the course of the event.

Forest Carbon support the creation of new woodland around the UK for organisations that want to reduce their impact on the environment. Alongside RWM, Forest Carbon’s long list of established partners include Microsoft, Kier, and Clearabee.

One tree will be planted in the RWM Forest (certified by the Woodland Carbon Code) for every new exhibitor.

Prysm – “We identified that RWM is in a position of influence – at the centre of one of the most important industries for the ongoing battle with climate change.”

It has been projected that by 2029 the RWM forest will span 10 acres, according to Prysm, and will contain approximately 6,000 trees. This will capture circa 1,500 tonnes of carbon dioxide, the events group says.

“By planting the forest, we will be doing our bit to tackle the issues surrounding climate change,” Prysm said.

“We believe corporate social responsibility is one of the most important functions of a business. We identified that RWM is in a position of influence – at the centre of one of the most important industries for the ongoing battle with climate change. With so many businesses coming together at the same place, there is not a better time or place to encourage other businesses to follow suit, becoming carbon neutral and creating a more sustainable, thriving business.

“We are directly contributing to the positive future of a sustainable, competitive recycling industry. By 2029 the number of trees planted will offset the carbon produced at RWM, and also help replace our depleting woodland. Furthermore it will contribute to reducing the carbon output of our other shows, including Future Resource. If the RWM Forest does one thing, we hope it raises awareness to businesses that it is possible to become carbon neutral.”

RWM is the UK’s largest recycling and waste management exhibition with over 500 exhibitors and 22,000 visitors. For more information of attending or exhibiting, click here.
