Viridor Wins 2-Year Contract With UK’s Largest Self-Storage Provider

Viridor has won a new two-year waste management contract with Safestore, the UK’s largest self-storage provider.

The two-year agreement for a total waste management solution covering Safestore’s 120 locations across the UK was reached following a competitive tender exercise undertaken on behalf of Viridor by David Rollinson, National Sales Executive.

Raj Bhania, Supply Chain Manager at Safestore’s head office in Borehamwood, went out to tender for a total waste management solution nationally.

One of the principle drivers behind Safestore’s decision to choose Viridor as a national provider was to move away from multiple waste management providers to a centralised single contract with one provider.

“Viridor will offer Safestore value by implementing different initiatives to help improve our own CSR performance levels such as reducing our carbon levels.”

Stuart Beavers, Head of Retail Services at Safestore, said:”We chose Viridor because they are industry experts in the waste streams, and the company’s nationwide depot coverage and extensive core fleet, which maps Safestore sites. Viridor will offer Safestore value by implementing different initiatives to help improve our own CSR performance levels such as reducing our carbon levels.”

Viridor Head of National Accounts, Laura Pearce, said the contract would cover a mix of waste streams, including ad-hoc requirements for items left behind by customers using the self-storage areas, which could be anything from filing cabinets to WEEE items.
