PackUK has introduced a 1 September 2026 deadline for producers to correct and resubmit 2025 packaging data that will affect their extended producer responsibility for packaging (pEPR) fees.
The deadline applies to producers that pay pEPR fees and gives organisations five months from the 1 April reporting deadline to identify and amend errors in their data submissions.
PackUK said data resubmitted by 1 September will be used in calculating confirmed 2026/27 producer fees and issuing Notices of Liability later this year.
After that date, producers can still resubmit data to ensure it is as accurate as reasonably possible for their recycling obligations. However, any further corrections will not affect disposal fees or Notices of Liability.
The scheme administrator said it would continue compliance monitoring after the deadline before publishing final Year 2 fees. It does not intend to issue further illustrative fees before those confirmed figures are published.
PackUK published illustrative Year 2 pEPR fees in December 2025. The final charges will be based on the data available following the September resubmission deadline.
Producers will have 50 calendar days to pay their fees once Notices of Liability are issued, with an option to pay in instalments.
PackUK said the new deadline is intended to improve data stability, reduce in-year changes to fees and give businesses greater certainty for planning. It added that it should also provide more certainty for local authorities expecting pEPR payments.
Organisations that submit data through a compliance scheme have been advised to contact their scheme to confirm the information required and relevant internal deadlines.
Under pEPR, larger organisations that supply or import packaging may be required to report packaging data, pay waste disposal and scheme-administration fees, and meet recycling obligations through packaging waste recycling notes or export recycling notes.
