Commercial mattress recycling and “circular economy specialist” The Furniture Recycling Group (TFR Group) says it is tackling the mattress waste problem by investing in the launch of a new mattress collection and recycling service.

TFR Group says that after doubling its turnover and staff in the last four years it is on a further growth drive, expanding its extensive service areas with a mattress collection service that will be available in Preston, Stoke, Cumbria, Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Liverpool, and Leeds.

TFR Group says it is diverting this waste stream with a service that offers a 0% landfill guarantee and 90% recycling rate.

We know how difficult it can be to put sustainable practices in place without the right logistics.

TFR Group says its new service will support retailers, local authorities, and waste management firms with the logistics to enable a cost-effective and efficient mattress collection and recycling service. The company says they will send a trained, two-person team to collect a minimum of 10 mattresses from the business, which are then analysed and prepared for the start of the recycling process.

The mattress collection and recycling service will be fully documented, TFR Groups says, to offer transparency throughout the entire process.

CEO and founder of TFR Group, Nick Oettinger, said: “We’ve been supporting our retail and business partners for more than a decade now, and are delighted we can continue to support them with our new, no-hassle mattress collection and recycling service.

“We know how difficult it can be to put sustainable practices in place without the right logistics, so our new cost-effective collection service means we can do this on their behalf, to tackle a difficult waste stream and divert mattresses from going to landfill.”
