Around 40 firefighters were called to a recycling centre fire in Essex involving an estimated 4,000 tonnes of scrap metal.
Firefighters were called to a fire at a recycling centre in Station Road, East Tilbury, at 11:30 pm on 8 August.
On arrival, Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said its team reported around 4,000 tonnes of scrap metal was on fire.
Crews worked with site staff, who used diggers to pull apart about 1,000 tonnes of scrap metal that was involved in the fire.
All crews from Essex County Fire and Rescue Service have now left the scene after working through the night to tackle the fire.
Commenting on the incident, Group Manager at Essex County Fire and Rescue Service, Scott Ford, thanked site staff for their help throughout the night to pull the pile of scrap metal apart so the crews could extinguish the fire in sections.
