Digital service launched for local authority EPR packaging grants

Local Authority Payments service

PackUK has launched a new digital service that allows local authorities to access information about their Extended Producer Responsibility for packaging grants.

The Local Authority Payments (LAPs) service allows local authorities to securely access and manage information related to their Extended Producer Responsibility for packaging (pEPR) grant payments.

The new digital service was developed by PackUK, the scheme administrator for the UK’s pEPR programme.

The LAPs service allows local authorities to access and download notices of assessment, grant determination letters and remittance documents.

They can also review and confirm grant payment details and request changes, raise queries and request support, and enrol and manage authorised users within their authority.

LAPs does not calculate, process or transmit payments, and the new service does not change the way EPR for packaging grant payments are distributed.

Each local authority CEO will be invited to access LAPs on behalf of their organisation. Once the CEO grants access to relevant users, authorised users can manage access and view grant-related information through the service.

A Head of Finance must be registered to confirm details used for EPR for packaging grant payments.

PackUK says that throughout June and July, a group of authorities from across the UK tested LAPs and provided feedback highlighting ease of use and the ability to access grant documents in one place.
