Ecover says its new laundry detergents will help your clothes last longer

Washing and cleaning product brand, Ecover, says its new formula – with plant-based ingredients – will help your clothes last longer, resulting in less textile waste.

According to figures by WRAP, every 30 seconds almost 1,000 items of clothing are thrown away in the UK.

It says extending the life of clothes by just nine extra months of active use would reduce carbon, water and waste footprints by around 20-30% each.

To “fight back”, Ecover has relaunched its biodegradable, plant-based laundry detergents. Featuring what it calls “new, powerful plant-based ingredients”, Ecover says the new formulations are designed to “bring old clothes back to life so people can wear them for longer”.

The brand says the detergent works to remove bobbling from cotton clothing, which is visible after 15-20 washes.

The detergent includes “powerful enzymes” that actively care for your clothes to help you enjoy wearing them for longer and hopefully reduce your carbon footprint as a result, Ecover says.

On a mission to “liberate the value of our clothing”, Ecover says it is now challenging the nation to “wash wiselywear longer and waste less”.

The detergent includes “powerful enzymes” that actively care for your clothes to help you enjoy wearing them for longer and hopefully reduce your carbon footprint as a result, Ecover says.

They do so by reviving colours and brightness and removing bobbles from cotton fibres after multiple washes.

Ecover is also relaunching its Non-Bio Laundry Detergent featuring a plant-based ingredient, Texcare, that helps prevent greying.

The bottles are made from 100% post-consumer recycled PET plastic and are widely recyclable. The cap is made from 50% post-consumer recycled polypropylene and can be recycled with the bottle. For those who want to reduce their plastic consumption, refills are also available in 5L bulk products and in health food stores – you can find stations at Ecover.com/refill.

Ecover is one of the largest producers of ecological washing and cleaning products in Europe.

The entire new laundry range was made in Ecover’s recently certified TRUE Zero Waste factory in the Belgian countryside.
